Oh Yes He Did

Stung with sharp criticism that two of his top political advisors, Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson, worked for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Obama is now denying the two men ever advised him on anything...ever. Raines has also answered the charge by saying he has never provided advice for Obama on any economic or housing matters, nor is he an advisor to Obama.

Oh yes he did. And yes he is...or was at least until this whole debacle.

The Washington Post, a traditionally liberal newspaper, on July 16th did a feature article on Raines reports that the Obama campaign solicited Raines who "has stepped down as Fannie Mae's CEO under the shadow of a $6.3 Million Accounting Scandal" for "advice on housing and policy". It writes that Raines has been quietly reconstructing a new life for himself including "taking calls from Barack Obama's presidential campaign seeking advice on mortgage and housing policy matters."

Again on August 28, 2008, The Post reported that "Two members of Mr. Obama's political circle, James A. Johnson and Franklin D. Raines, are former Chief Executives of Fannie Mae."

To this date, in spite of Obama's denials the Post has not changed their story.
